SolidCAM 2.5D Mill + AFRM Training
Aim
The course is an introduction to SolidCAM aimed at operators and setters looking to acquire new and upgrade existing skills, and at adult learners with knowledge and experience of the machining process looking to make the step up to CNC Programming.
The course provides covers programming skills for 2.5D machining. Advanced and comprehensive step by step course to gain advanced skills to program 2.5D parts.
The course is suitable for customers with or looking to acquire SolidCAM CAD/CAM software.
Course Description
SolidCAM 2.5D Mill + AFRM (3 days) – Pre-Requisite – SolidWorks CAD- SolidCAM Settings and Defaults
- Part Setup (Co-ords, Stock, Fixtures, etc)
- Tool Types and Tool Tables
- Introduction to Operation types (Profile, Pocket, Slot, Drill, etc.)
- Geometry definitions (3D Models, 2D drawings)
- Templates
- Rest material options
- Basics of Multi-Sided Machining
- Simulation types
- Feature Recognition (Hole, Pocket, Chamfer)
Who the course is for?
- Knowledge of Windows operating systems
- Creating file folders, copy and paste etc.
- Knowledge of 2.5D and 3D modelling.
- A general understanding of CNC machining is preferred.
Details
Face to Face Classroom (Facilitator Led) each learner will learn through direct use of provided SolidCam software during training.

Learning Outcome
- Understand the setup of milling parts to program within SolidCAM
- Understand how to utilise the SolidCAM toolkit within milling applications
- Gain the skills to program 2.5D milling features such as Face milling, pocketing, profiling, drilling etc.
- Gain the skills to program tilted plane machining (e.g. 3+2 milling) for 2.5D features
- Understand how to create and use templates for common features and processes when CAM programming to improve programming efficiency
- Understand how to utilise the various simulation methods available within SolidCAM to check for potential problems or tool collision
