Enya O'Connell-Hussey is a CE Project Officer IMR. She is currently executing AI4CE, an EPA-funded research collaboration harnessing AI to accelerate the adoption of circular implementation, and CircThread, a Horizon Europe-funded project creating an open-source digital platform to share information that makes circular economy initiatives like product repair and remanufacturing easier.

Dr Geraldine Brennan

Dr Geraldine Brennan is the Head of Circular Economy at Irish Manufacturing Research (IMR) an Enterprise Ireland and IDA supported Technology Centre. Within IMR’s Sustainable Manufacturing Division, Geraldine is responsible for the Circular Economy Unit and oversees the delivery of CIRCULÉIRE - the National Platform for Circular Manufacturing, Ireland’s first industry-led public-private partnership dedicated to accelerating the circular economy. Geraldine has spent over a decade exploring the barriers and enablers of industry adoption and implementation of circular and sustainable business models. Dr Brennan holds a PhD in Strategic Management from Imperial College London and has lectured, authored, and edited a range of thought leadership on the topic of scaling circular innovation.

Veena Grace Thomas is an Industrial Analyst Researcher at IMR, with a strong foundation in Applied Mathematics and Statistics. She holds dual Master’s degrees in Data and Computational Science, and Data Analytics.

As the Head of AI Strategy at IMR, Carlos Garcia plays a pivotal role in shaping and guiding advanced AI initiatives aimed at enhancing efficiency, flexibility, and sustainability in the Irish manufacturing landscape. His unique blend of industrial engineering insight and AI expertise is instrumental in driving forward sustainable and efficient manufacturing practices. Carlos brings a wealth of experience from his tenure as a Senior Technologist at IMR, where he has successfully established and directed research teams focused on scheduling, machine learning, and optimisation. His doctoral research, centered on the application of metaheuristic algorithms for addressing complex scheduling challenges, has informed his approach to integrating AI technologies into practical, industrial contexts effectively.

Valentina Rangel, Circular Economy Policy Officer at IMR

Valentina Rangel is the Circular Economy Policy Officer at IMR, working primarily on the flagship circular economy project CIRCULÉIRE, she supports industry engagement in national and EU circular economy and regulatory frameworks. Her role at IMR also involves enhancing the Irish Industry’s understanding of the key regulatory drivers for circularity, as well as key regulatory obligations, and facilitating meaningful dialogue between industry and national policymakers. Before her journey in IMR, she worked as the Economic and Trade Officer at the Embassy of Colombia in Ireland and in the United Kingdom. She served as a bridge between the Government and the international private sector by facilitating policy dialogues, building public-private partnerships, and using her legal background to support industry understanding of key regulatory frameworks. Valentina is a qualified lawyer in Colombia, with a Master of Laws (LLM) from the London School of Economic and Political Science and a law degree (LLB) from the Universidad de Los Andes.
